What is an Infrared Sauna?

What is an Infrared Sauna?

Did you know that Yogaharta has an infrared sauna? Yep, we have a sauna and a shower tucked away in a private corner of the wellness studio! Crazy right! And it’s the perfect way to relax and improve your health and wellness. Consider adding an infrared sauna to your weekly routine.

So, what exactly is an infrared sauna, and how does it work? Infrared saunas are similar to traditional saunas in that they provide a heated environment that promotes sweating and detoxification. However, instead of using heated rocks or stoves to warm the air, infrared saunas use light waves to heat your body directly. These light waves also penetrate deep into the skin, providing a variety of benefits that can help you look and feel your best.

The light waves used in infrared saunas are part of the electromagnetic spectrum, which includes radio waves, microwaves, and visible light. Infrared waves fall on the spectrum between visible light and microwaves, with longer wavelengths and lower frequencies than visible light. When these waves are absorbed by your skin, they create heat energy, which warms your body from the inside out.

This gentle heat can have a variety of health benefits, including:

  • Improved circulation: Infrared sauna therapy can help improve blood flow and oxygenation throughout your body, promoting better overall health.
  • Pain relief: The heat from an infrared sauna can help relieve muscle and joint pain, reducing inflammation and promoting healing.
  • Detoxification: Sweating in an infrared sauna can help eliminate toxins and impurities from your body, promoting clearer skin and improved immune function. These toxins can include plastics and heavy metals! Which is why it’s so important to have a shower after enjoying your sauna session! Know if you are thinking oh cool i’ll just use this traditional sauna at the local pool or at my gym to detox, I hate to tell you it’s not that simple due to the way trad saunas work they can not detox you in the same way only infrared light waves have the ability to penetrate your body and push those toxins out.
  • Relaxation: The heat and light from an infrared sauna can help reduce stress and promote relaxation, leaving you feeling calm and refreshed.

In addition to these health benefits, using an infrared sauna can be a fun and relaxing way to take care of yourself. It provides a quiet, peaceful environment where you can unwind and let go of stress and tension, our sauna has a inbuilt tablet giving you the option to watch your favourite shows or simple put on some music and sit and relax, if that doesn’t tickle your fancy then place the lights on and read your favourite book while the sauna goes to work improving your health and well being no end. Plus, it’s a great way to treat yourself to a little bit of luxury without breaking the bank.

If you’re considering adding an infrared sauna to your weekly routine, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, it’s important to stay hydrated before and after your sauna session to ensure that you don’t become dehydrated. You should also start with shorter sessions and gradually work your way up to longer ones to avoid overheating, the sauna has preprogrammed sessions for ease of use. Sit down, click on your desired program and relax away.

Infrared saunas are a safe and effective way to improve your health and wellness, and they’re becoming increasingly popular for their many benefits. Whether you’re looking to reduce stress, relieve pain, or simply enjoy a little bit of relaxation, an infrared sauna could be just what you need to feel your best. So why not give it a try and see how it can benefit you?

Excited to try our sauna but want to bring a friend or loved one, well don’t worry, we figured that might be the case, which is why we have a two seater Sunlighten model of infrared sauna!
