Yogaharta is truly a community hub and much more than just a yoga studio, be sure to pay us a visit and connect with our community for yourself.
Yogaharta was born in an unusual way, owners Ruth and Cody, mother and son had rekindled their relationship through the practice of yoga meeting up at studios to practice all types of yoga from asana classes to pranayama and meditation and monthly Kirtans. Eventually this turned into morning yoga at Cody's house before work each day until one day Ruth decided to move to Seaford and enjoy being by the beach. It wasn’t until she had moved and they were trying to find a yoga studio for Ruth to practice at that they realized there was not one that suited and in that moment Yogaharta was born and Cody jumped on a plane and traveled to the yoga village Luxmun Jula in Rishikesh, India to complete his yoga teacher training.
Cody, with some help, turned a lawyer's office into the studio you see and practice in today.
Yogaharta is truly a family run business that was born out of the love a mother and son had in sharing their practices together and the power it had to help them be better, to live fully and enjoy their lives.
When Cody returned home from his yoga training in India, he was very inspired to showcase everything yoga had to offer, which is why our timetable is so diverse with many different styles of yoga.
Making Yogaharta accessible firstly means to make it affordable and we have done that by looking at the average wage of our community and essentially traded our members one hour of their working week for unlimited access to our timetable of classes. You only have to work one hour to have access to over 20 classes a week and to us that seemed completely fair and ethical.
Secondly, we wanted to have classes and services that were available to everyone, we have classes for people before work or after school drop off and after work and into the evening with weekend classes to help you have some self-care on your days off!
Our philosophy of wanting to give everyone in the local community a place to cultivate a life of health and wellness in their bodies and minds was due to the healing power that Ruth and Cody experienced first-hand from including yoga into their daily lives. Ruth lost her husband and Cody lost his father when Cody was just 5 years old and leaving Ruth with a 5 year old and 3 year old this had a huge impact on the mental state of the family. When they introduced meditation pranayama and yoga into their lives, things started to change years of depression started to lift and life began to have purpose and meaning, this transformation inspired owners Ruth and Cody to create Yogaharta and continues to inspire them as they help bring the wonderful lifestyle science yoga offers the Seaford and surrounding area.
