WHAT IS AYURVEDA?

Ayurveda is an ancient form of natural medicine originating in India about 5000 years ago. It is a holistic approach that not only treats the physical body but addresses all levels of wellbeing including mental, emotional and spiritual health. Ayurveda essentially teaches us how to flow with the natural rhythms of life, offering tools to assist the body in returning to balance and healing itself.  Ayurveda is not only about ‘getting better’ or recovering from illness, it is about maintaining wellness and preventing dis-ease in the body.

AYURVEDIC SERVICES

AYURVEDIC CONSULTATIONS

(60 – 90 MINS)

During an Ayurvedic consultation your unique constitution is determined and imbalances in the body are identified with the aim of finding the root cause. This is done through questioning and physical examination which includes (but is not limited to) feeling the pulse and looking at the nails and the tongue.

Individualised recommendations are given which include diet modifications, lifestyle changes and herbal medicines (if needed). Ayurvedic therapies, such as Abhyanga, may also be recommended.

INITIAL CONSULTATION (90 MINS) = $90
FOLLOW UP CONSULTATIONS (60 MINS) = $48

AYURVEDIC MASSAGE (ABHYANGA)

(60 – 75 MINS)

Abhyanga is Ayurvedic massage using warm medicated oils. These oils are infused with medicinal herbs. The healing oil selected for the massage is chosen based on your ayurvedic constitution (prakruti) and your body’s needs at the time (vikruti). Abhyanga is nourishing and soothing for the whole body. It not only works on the physical level but assists in the flow of energy in the body by incorporating massage of certain karma points and meridians (energy points and energy channels in the body respectively).

Other benefits of Abhyanga include:

– Stimulation of the lymphatic system
– Stress reduction
– Soothing and calming for the nervous system
– Nourishing the body
– Improving sleep quality
– Assisting in maintaining the health of the nerves and preventing skin dehydration through the application of the oil.

**In your initial massage session, we allow extra time for a chat at the start to determine your Ayurvedic body type and thus which oil and techniques are most suited to you.**

INITIAL MASSAGE (75 MINS) = $85
FOLLOW UP MASSAGES (60 MINS) = $80

INDIAN HEAD MASSAGE

Cara completed her Advanced Diploma of Ayurveda at the Australian Institute of Higher and Further Education. She worked and trained with Ayurvedic doctor, Dr Satheesh Kumar (BAMS, MPH, MHP) of Jeeva Health, for more than 2 years.
