OWNER / YOGIRuth discovered yoga and meditation after years of challenges with her mental health. Following a bad breakdown, she went searching for natural ways to keep herself well – changing to a plant-based vegan diet, seeing alternative healers, and moving her business to by the beach. Having a daily practice of yoga and meditation keeps her balanced, out of the head and into the body, giving the mind a rest from the continual striving and mental chatter.
Seeing the dramatic difference that these changes made to her life, Ruth was determined to share this with others, and this is how Yogaharta was created!
Ruth believes that yoga and meditation should be accessible to everyone, and that is what we are trying to provide here at Yogaharta – with affordable options for everyone, building a community where everyone feels truly at home.
OWNER / YOGA & MEDITATION TEACHERCody has been practising meditation since the age of 16 as a way to deal with life’s struggles, and completed his yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India. He loves travelling and exploring other cultures, for the life lessons it brings.
Cody uses yoga as a way of life to increase his vitality, to stretch and heal his body, and to relax and stabilise his mind. He likes to teach through personal experience – using what has helped him and what he uses on a day to day basis, keeping the focus on the unity of mind, body and spirit through the connection of breath, movement and mental awareness.
Cody also leads our Meditation and Pranayama classes.
YOGA TEACHER / STUDIO MANAGERJulie came to yoga, like so many others, to help with stress and anxiety, but got a whole lot more than she bargained for. It’s led her on an endless journey of self-discovery and with a yearning to help others make a difference in their own lives, too.
She believes that we can all be a little more mindful and compassionate towards ourselves both in our practice, and in our daily lives.
Julie’s classes provide a light-hearted, welcoming and supportive space for everybody. She will help you find the right alignment for your body and encourage you to move with the guidance of your breath. Her aim is to inspire you to be more mindful both on and off the mat, and to come to yoga with an open mind – prepared to discover more than just a physical practice!
YOGA TEACHEREmilie was introduced to yoga at the age of 16 when training with the circus. Over time, she saw first-hand how a regular practice can benefit the mind and body, both on the mat and out in the world.
In 2014, Emilie completed her first 200 hour training with the Radhika Yoga Institute in Vrindavan, India. Emilie has since completed a further 250 hours with Byron Yoga Centre and the Yoga With Carson Academy.
As a qualified remedial massage therapist, Emilie has a keen interest in functional anatomy, biomechanics and logical sequencing. Emilie offers a light-hearted journey to yourself, encouraging introspection and self study through asana and movement exploration.
YOGA TEACHER & AYURVEDIC PRACTITIONER
Cara has been teaching yoga for over 9 years and enjoys incorporating awareness of the breath and the flow of energy in the body into her classes. She loves yoga’s ability to connect both herself and her clients to the space of peace and clarity within.
Through teaching yoga, Cara became interested in the philosophy of Ayurveda and decided to study ayurvedic medicine. Ayurvedic medicine, along with regular yoga practice, assisted Cara in overcoming a personal health challenge many years ago and it brings her great joy to share her two great passions with others.
Using her many years of study in Yoga and Ayurveda, Alyssa is able to walk alongside her students with deep knowledge and compassion. Her intention is to reignite the strength and health of community through reconnecting to our beautiful and humbling Mother Earth, our own creative energy and the body’s intelligence.
Alyssa is a Yoga Alliance certified E-RYT (experienced yoga teacher) and YACEP (Yoga Alliance continuing education provider). Expect every class to be a balance of movement, meditation, breath, mantra, authenticity and playfulness.
Alyssa bows in gratitude to the Eastern practices that she embodies and teaches, as well as the people of the Kulin nations on whose land she lives, works and plays.
A passionate yoga teacher that focuses on the practice of presence thanks to the awareness of the breath, the body posture and the body sensations.
A lot of care is devoted to thoroughly cueing the correct alignment so as to build strong foundations for a safe practice, as well as sharing the philosophical teachings by weaving them into classes for long-lasting benefits for the body and the mind, and to promote spiritual expansion.
Devoted to daily self-practice, in my experience yoga positively and constructively impacts our life at every level – physical, emotional, mental and spiritual – that helps in maintaining balance, gaining awareness, staying focused and present, feeling energised and relaxed at the same time, purifying all physical and mental systems, as well as growing and transforming ourselves.
YOGA TEACHERMartina’s encouraging and bubbly nature allows her to create a fun, light-hearted, compassionate, safe and nurturing environment for her students to explore their bodies and minds through asana, pranayama and meditation.
Having two parents suffering from physical disabilities, Martina’s passion lies in making yoga accessible for everybody. Her appreciation for functional anatomy and her understanding of the varying range of motion in her students enables her to work with a range of adjustments and props so everybody can enjoy the benefits of the practice.
Martina found incredible healing in Yin Yoga and meditation after suffering from a burnout a few years ago and pursued her dream of helping others through yoga by completing 170h of Yin Yoga trainings in both Germany and Australia before completing her 200h YTT in Hatha Flow and Meditation.
Ririn is a certified Yoga Instructor, mother and wife also. Since she tapped into the world of yoga, her life has never been the same and she has been lucky to learn from wise and inspiring individuals. Having the chance to share those lessons and experiences with students fills her up with joy. Ririn believes that everyone could use more yoga in their lives! Yoga is not a work-out, it is work-in, and this is the point of spiritual practice – to make us teachable to open our heart and focus our awareness so that we know what we already know and be who we already are.
